Read on to find out why you need to spend your holiday here:

  1. Freedom

Celebrate your freedom in the place that makes you feel free! There’s nothing like having the sun on your face and sand between your toes to help you appreciate the freedom we have here in the U.S.A.  Enjoy a moment of solitude as you listen to the waves and remember those who have fought for our freedom and continue to defend it today.

  2. Fireworks

Bring a chair or a blanket and you’ve got the best seat in the house for fireworks in Ocean City, MD. Fireworks displays will be held at several locations around town on July 4th. Visitors staying in the downtown area will be dazzled all along the Boardwalk as fireworks light up the night in the area of North Division Street at 9:30 p.m. If you’re staying in North Ocean City, then Northside Park (126th St.) is the place to be. This scenic 58-acre recreation area has plenty of grassy areas to view fireworks over the bay. In mid-town Ocean City, Seacrets will have its own fireworks display at approximately 9 p.m. Relax in the sand with a drink in your hand as live music plays across multiple stages and fireworks are shot from a barge on the bay. Guests staying in Ocean Pines can also watch fireworks on July 3rd at 9:15 p.m. at nearby Berlin Falls Park in quaint Berlin, MD. This classic event also features activities and vendors across the street at the Burley Oak Brewing Company.

  3. Festivities

The Ocean City area keeps the party going all day long with fun entertainment and activities. Start the day at 8 a.m. in Ocean Pines at the Freedom 5K, a family-friendly race around Veterans Memorial Park to benefit “Athletes Serving Athletes.” After the race, participants can stay for the Ocean Pines July 4th Celebration from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with waterslides, carnival games, and concessions. Assateague Island State Park will join in the fun with a 4th of July Bike Parade from the Ranger Station to the Nature Center, followed hot dogs and prizes for the best bike decorations (call 410-641-2918 for info). Finally, guests can finish the day with free live entertainment taking place prior to the Ocean City fireworks displays at 8:00 p.m. The Northside Park celebration will feature “Mike Hines and The Look” (high energy pop, hip hop, R & B, Motown and more), while the downtown celebration on N. Division St. will feature “Triple Rail Turn” (modern country).

  4. Food

What’s a birthday party without the food? Ocean City offers ten miles of restaurants, from fine dining to casual cuisine. For some fresh Eastern Shore crabs, stop by Hooper’s Crab House in West Ocean City for a classic crab-picking experience or a bushel of crabs to eat at home. If you’re looking for a fun and family-friendly island atmosphere, check out Fishtales in the downtown area of Ocean City (21st St. and the bay) for delicious appetizers, entrees and drinks. At 1:00 p.m., Fishtales will also host contestants competing for $1,500 and the title of “Top Dog” at their annual Hot Dog eating contest. Life’s Better on the Bay | Ocean City, MD

The Bay – Ocean City’s Quieter Side

Many people love Ocean City for its beautiful beaches, exciting Boardwalk, and vibrant atmosphere. But, many also love Ocean City for its quieter side on the bay, where visitors can slow down and escape the hustle and bustle. This beautiful bay, separating the town from the mainland, has long been a source of tranquility and recreation for both visitors and locals alike. Stretching about ten miles from Fenwick Island, Delaware down to the Ocean City Inlet, the bay ranges from about a quarter-mile to two miles in width offering a safe haven for boaters, water sports, fishing enthusiasts, and nature lovers. Whether you like to watch boats and waterfowl from the comfort of your balcony or jump on a water taxi to explore bayfront bars and restaurants, the bay is Ocean City’s unsung hero and is the perfect spot for your next vacation.

The Best of Both Worlds

One of the best parts about vacationing along the bay is that you can enjoy a quiet, waterfront setting, but still have all of Ocean City’s fun and excitement right at your fingertips. Thanks to Ocean City’s long and skinny shape, even bayfront and bayside properties are still only a short walk from the beach and popular attractions, allowing for easy access and a hassle-free experience. Downtown properties along the bay are within walking distance of the Boardwalk where you can spend time browsing shops, riding on amusement rides, and checking out hundreds of events throughout the year. Mid-town properties have the benefit of dozens of fantastic restaurants and nightlife that will tempt your taste buds and help you unwind. Uptown properties are close to the beautiful Northside Park, a lovely bayfront area with walking paths, playground, sports fields, a picnic pavilion, and a long fishing and crabbing pier.

Life is Short. Watch More Sunsets!

Benefits of the Off-Season in Ocean City, MD

Everyone knows how great Ocean City is during the summer months, but not many realize how fun it can also be during the off-season. The weather may be a bit chilly, but there is still plenty to do, such as weekly events, shopping, and tourist attractions. It’s a little bit like having the beach to yourself, with less traffic, fewer crowds, and an all-around slower pace.  Head down to the Boardwalk for a morning bike ride and stop in at your favorite breakfast shop for a cup of coffee.  Most Boardwalk shops and restaurants are open daily, and especially on weekends.  There are no restrictions for bike riding on the Boardwalk from the Tuesday after Labor Day until the Friday before Memorial Day (excluding Springfest and Sunfest weekends).  Parking is also free April 1st through October 31st.  Feel free to bring your pets along, as leashed dogs are welcome on the beach and Boardwalk from October 1st through April 30th.  (Browse our Pet-Friendly Rentals page to view homes that permit pets.)

Fantastic Dining, Shopping and Activities

Snow and sand do not mix, but there is just something about seeing Ocean City in all seasons of the year that is so peaceful and wonderful to experience. Beachcombers love the off-season since it’s the perfect time to search for seashells as they wash up onto the shore (especially after storms in the spring or fall).  It is also not unusual to see rare marine life make an appearance every now and then, such as migrating seals that stop to rest on the beach.  If retail therapy is what you seek, Ocean City offers a variety of great shopping options – from small shops like Ish Boutique and South Moon Under to The Tanger Outlets in West Ocean City, which features discount shopping at big name stores like American Eagle, Under Armour, and more.  Ready for a bite to eat?  There are many town favorite restaurants that offer daily lunch and dinner specials, such as OC Wasabi, Harrison’s Harbor Watch, and Harborside.  Be sure to check out Fishtales next to Bahia Marina on 18th St., which is open on weekends and features a beautiful bayfront beach with a playground for the kids.  Off-season fishing trips are also available there on the weekends. Reel in winner rock fish and enjoy your own freshly caught meal.

Budget-Friendly Vacation Rental Rates

Last, but not least, the best part about the off-season is low rental rates! Our best properties are waiting to offer you luxurious accommodations for a fraction of what it would cost in the summertime.  Here are some recommendations for awesome off-season getaways.

From the Beach, With Love

Valentine’s Weekend Getaway

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which means planning the perfect experience for that special someone starts right now. Why go the traditional route with just a dinner and a movie when you can plan an unforgettable Valentine’s weekend at the beach? Ocean City will provide a peaceful getaway with less crowds, no traffic, shorter lines and cheaper rates. Have a weekend full of relaxation, quality time, and a whole lot of romantic fun! The island is waiting and is yours to explore.

Love Is In The Air

Wake up early and enjoy the beauty of nature; take a stroll along the beach and search for shells washed up on the shore, all while watching the sunrise. Treat your sweetheart to a relaxing spa day at one of the local spas around town and if it’s not too chilly, enjoy a relaxing sunset boat cruise. Plan a romantic dinner for two at one of many local favorite restaurants like The SharkHarrison’s Harbor WatchSunset Grille or Ristorante Antipasti. End the night by picking up a delicious sweet treat from Wockenfuss for dessert.

Another option is a special Valentine’s horse and carriage ride, which will be offered from 2/11-2/12 and 2/18-2/19. For only $40 per couple, enjoy a carriage ride down the Boardwalk with a glass of bubbly, box of chocolates, and red roses! To make reservations or for more information, call Randy Davis at 443-783-1409. The options are endless and will have you leaving with new memories and happy hearts.
