Ahoy, mateys! Aug. 1-Sept. 1, visitors to Ocean City, MD will have the opportunity to experience what 16th century exploration was like first hand. As part of the Sail to Sunny 16th Century Ship Tour 2014, tall ship El Galen Andaluca will be docked in town (bayside at 3rd St. & Chicago Ave.) and open for public tours 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily on five of its seven decks. El Galen Andaluca is 500 tons, 170 feet long, and the only ship of its kind sailing today a replica of late 16th century merchant vessels and war ships that made up the early navies of Europe. Her smaller sister ship, Nao Victoria, was to accompany her on this tour, but will have to remain in their home port of St. Augustine, Fla. due to mechanical issues.

After her visit to Ocean City late last summer, El Galen spent three months in Puerto Rico filming for the new NBC series “Crossbones.” Not only does Crossbones feature El Galen as one of the magnificent ships of the cast it also stars actor John Malkovich as the legendary pirate Blackbeard! The season finale of Crossbones will be airing while El Galen is in town, on August 2 at 8 p.m. EST. Click Here for an overview and full episodes of “Crossbones.”

Vantage Resort Realty & Little Pink Houses of Hope team up to bring a week of rest and rejuvenation in Ocean City, MD to families affected by breast cancer.

“Beach House Angels” Donate Homes

Little Pink Houses of Hope Comes to OC

It`s amazing what a little sand & salt water can do for the soul. Just stand on the beach, look out on the vast ocean, and somehow life is back in perspective. This coming week, Vantage will have the honor of giving this much-needed beach experience to some families who need it all the more. We are teaming up with Little Pink Houses of Hope, a non-profit organization whose mission is to give rest, recovery & reconnection to families affected by breast cancer through week-long beach retreats. During the retreat which is the first of its kind in Ocean City families will get to spend quality time together, as well as with other families who`ve battled breast cancer. Shared meals, fun activities & outings are being planned to make it special & relaxing.

Vantage Owners & Local Businesses Rally Support

Of course, none of this could be possible without the generosity of our homeowners, who willingly gave up their vacation rentals (and a week`s rent) for the visiting families. We are overwhelmed and humbled by how quickly and wholeheartedly these Beach House Angels responded – many of whom have been affected by breast cancer in some way and simply want to give back. In addition, many local businesses & organizations have come forward to donate their resources, such as Viking Golf Amusements, Wobbly Wheel Boardwalk Bicycles, BJ`s on the Water, Bull on the Beach, Walk on Water Stand Up Paddleboard Company, Oceanic Fishing Pier, Dana Marie Photography, Red Door Community Center, and Shore Community Church. Even Vantage will be providing passes for families to visit Assateague Island, as well as grocery store gift cards so that Little Pink Houses of Hope organizers can make meals and stock the kitchens with food during the week.

If you`re in town May 31-June 7, be on the lookout for Little Pink Houses of Hope yard signs posted in front of some of the Vantage Vacation Rentals!
