FISH ON!235402803

Let the countdown begin…only 19 days until the world’s biggest & richest billfish tournament, The White Marlin Open, the week everyone has been waiting for. Anglers will set out early Monday morning August 8, 2016 in search for the big papa…the White Marlin. In old days, this majestic creature was known as Skilligalee. People from all over gather in Ocean City in search for the riches this fish brings. Last boat-parade-years prize money for the tournament was close to $2,000,000.

Experience Ocean City’s White Marlin Open in some of the best ways. Wake up before the sun and head down to the inlet to watch the parade of boats set out to sea. For the not so morning people, Harrison’s Harbor Watch has the best view in town and not to mention their fantastic menu! Enjoy lunch or dinner as 2_2b90b5f6-c1e9-476c-b21b-47fbb456eac4the fishing boats make their way back to land and for us not so experienced fishing enthusiasts, the folks at Harbor Watch will gladly give us insight to what each flag means on the boats. The most popular place by far to watch this event is live from the weigh-ins at Harbour Island Marina located on 14th St and the bay. The scale opens at 4pm Monday-Friday, be sure to get there early to beat the crowd and get the best views of the huge sea creatures coming in to be weighed. Walk around and visit all the vendors, grab a delicious meal at the Reel Inn, and enjoy the great atmosphere. For information on how to register for the tournament, go to and good luck to all anglers, may the odds be forever in your favor.

Fun Fishing

For those who are not entering the Big Fish Tournament, there areoc-fishing-pier plenty of great areas to fish around Ocean City. The OC pier and the bulkhead on the bay between 2nd and 4th St are a premier destination for fishermen and a MD fishing license is not required. Time it perfectly to catch the drift between tides and the fish are swarming. Flounder, sea bass, spot, croaker, or bluefish are bound to be caught. Another popular spot to fish in OC is the route 50 bridge, although a MD fishing license is required, one can be bought for an affordable price. Let the games begin in OCMD,  Fish On!
